We
appreciate your interest in the
National
Society of Pershing Angel
The
National Society of Pershing Angels is the only national drill
sorority in the country. Since its founding in 1965, Pershing Angels
has grown while other similar organizations have ceased to exist.
Recognizing drill ability, promoting citizenship, and maintaining a HIGHLY
efficient drill company ensures the strength and progress of the organization.
The Society continues
to grow not only through the addition of members at our existing active
units, but also through the addition of new units. Through an ongoing
expansion program lead by our G-2, National
Expansion Officer, we look for women, and existing female drill teams,
at university campuses who are interested in becoming a part of our sisterhood.
Membership Guidlines
To
apply for membership you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a full-time
undergraduate student, seeking a Bachelors Degree, at an accredited
four-year college or university.
- Have successfully
completed a minimum of 12 credit hours with an overall G.P.A. of 2.5
or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Be accepted into
and complete the unit's training program.
ROTC
membership is not required.
Chartering
Chartering is the process of qualifying, organizing, recruiting,
and initiating individuals for the development of a new unit. Starting
a Pershing Angels unit is not as complicated a process as one might expect.
The first step in chartering a new unit is to formally request a charter
from NSPA National Headquarters. A letter of interest should be
mailed to NHQ at the address located here.
If you have a group interested in chartering a new unit of NSPA, you will
need to meet the following qualifications:
- The interest group
must consist of at least ten (10) qualified women, six (6) of whom will
be returning during the next academic year. Each person must have
a minumum cumulative G.P.A of 2.5/4.0 or higher.
- All interested
persons must be attending an accredited four-year college or university
in the pursuit of a Bachelors Degree.
- The interest group
must appoint at least one (1) female cadre/faculty advisor
- The interest group
must submit a letter of recommendation from the ROTC PMS/PAS or unit
advisor. The letter must include a statement indicating university/college
approval.
- The overall presentation
and ideas must be consistent with that of NSPA.
- The chartering
of a prospective university must be feasible and beneficial for the
parent organization.
Once intial
contact has been made, internal communication will determine which unit
will be assigned to begin preliminary chartering research and contact
individual intake candidates. In most instances, the unit assigned
to charter the interest group is the closest geographically.
